Make this homemade honey mustard dressing at home for a totally adjustable-to-your-taste salad dressing!

Honey mustard has never been the first dressing I think of when it’s time to have a salad. In fact, it’s NEVER been in my fridge until now.

Growing up, I was much more partial to dairy based dressings. Perhaps it was my German upbringing, but still to this day the first dressing I want to grab for is blue cheese or ranch. I’m not sure who’s ideas it was to put dairy on a salad, but it works, and I love it to this day.

But since I gave up dairy (again…), I’ve had to come up with alternative dressings. So I finally knuckled down and tried honey mustard. And while I would still prefer ranch or blue cheese, I have to say that this is a pretty tasty substitute.

  1. Were you following me at the grocery store this week? My hubby loves honey mustard dressing on his (clean) chicken tenders. I picked up a bottle at the grocery sore, looked at the neediness and though “there’s got to be a way I can make this myself”!
This recipe was in my inbox today….perfect timing!!!!

  4. I would probably try this with dijon. Honey dijon is MY favorite. And there’s a restaurant out my way that adds a bit of cayenne pepper to their honey mustard… it’s got a kick. It’s VERY good that way.

  6. When you say prepared yellow mustard is that one you buy in the shop in powdered form or one you have a recipe to make?

    1. No, that’s the stuff in the bottle you buy at the store that you use for hot dogs and hamburgers.

  14. Does this really have 699 calories, or is that a typo? Just wanted to double check!

    Reply

    1. Kelly – Yes, but that is for the entire recipe. You wouldn’t put the whole batch on your salad.

  15. Wow! This awesome, my new favorite salad dressing.

    1. Celeste – Awesome! Give the strawberry vinaigrette a try as well. Yummy!

  16. Is there really 699 calories in only 1/3 of the recipe. Yikes

    Reply

    1. Amanda – Yes, but you aren’t going to pour a 1/3 cup over your salad either. And those calories are good quality calories. It makes a difference!
