Easy Air Fryer Recipes
Did you get a new air fryer for Christmas? I got an air fryer a couple of years ago and absolutely LOVE it! I actually love it so much that I have two.We use our air fryers several times a week. We love to cook french fries, chicken tenders, frozen snacks, burgers, pizza, and steaks. It makes the BEST french fries and pizza rolls! SO crispy!
The air fryer is also great for reheating takeout food and leftover pizza. One of the places we get takeout from is about 20 minutes from the house. I will throw the fries in the air fryer when we get home and in just a few minutes they are warm and crispy. Just like when you get them in the restaurant! I also reheat Chicken Legs’ leftover wings – pop them in the air fryer at 350ºF for 6 or 7 minutes – perfection!
What is an Air Fryer?
An air fryer is basically a countertop convection oven. It circulates air around the food for faster cooking. The rapidly circulating air makes the food crispy, much like deep frying but without the need for oil. You also don’t need to preheat the air fryer, making cooking in the air fryer much faster than cooking in the oven. The air fryer is also SUPER easy to clean up. You can put the cooking basket in the dishwasher.
What Can I Cook in the Air Fryer
If you can cook it in the oven, you can cook it in the air fryer. Wet batters do not work in the air fryer. For example, you couldn’t do a tempura batter in the air fryer.
How to Convert Oven Baking Times to the Air Fryer: To convert a traditional oven-cooked recipe to the air-fryer reduce the suggested temperature by 25°F and then cut the cooking time by 20%.Just use the pause button on your machine to occasionally check the doneness and flip for balanced crispness on all sides.
Recommended Air Fryers
What Air Fryer do you recommend? I have thePhilips XXL Air Fryer. It is larger and can cook an entire meal at once. The basket in the Philips XXL Air Fryer measures 9x9x3 inches.
Do I need to preheat the air fryer? I never preheat my air fryer. You can preheat it for a few minutes if you prefer, but I don’t think it is necessary.
When cooking french fries or wings, I like to shake the basket a few times during the cooking time to ensure even cooking.
Can I use Pam Cooking Spray in the air fryer? It is not recommended to use canned cooking spray with the air fryer. Most cans of cooking spray have propellants in them. The propellants will damage your basket and start to erode the nonstick coating on the air fryer basket.I suggest using an oil mister. I like this one from Amazon: https://amzn.to/3oB6Z2J . Don’t over do it with the oil. I onlly spritz things like freshly breaded chicken or frozen mozzarella sticks. I don’t use oil on frozen french fries, frozen chicken, steaks or burgers.
Do I need to line the air fryer basket? I’ve never lined my basket with anything. I don’t want to block the air from circulating around the food.
How often do I clean the air fryer? I clean the basket after each use. The Philips air fryer makes cleanup so easy. Everything goes straight into the dishwasher.

Brussels sprouts are the best place to start your air-fried vegetable journey. They crisp up beautifully and take no time at all. If you're making these for a crowd, we suggest frying them up in batches as overcrowding the basket can lead to soggy results.
Summary. In conclusion, while air fryers offer certain benefits such as reduced calorie intake and faster cooking times, they are not without their limitations. Size constraints, limited cooking options, and concerns about crispiness are driving some people to look for alternatives.
French fries are arguably the most popular thing to cook in an air fryer. Air fryers use a fraction of the oil as deep-frying, and making French fries in one results in an appreciably crisp exterior and fluffy inside without the greasiness.
Place the chicken on the air fryer basket / grate in an even layer, leaving a bit of space for air to circulate around. Air fry the chicken at 415 degrees for 10 minutes. If you have larger pieces of chicken, you'll want to go closer to 13 minutes. You're looking for an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
Some say it's too good to be true, that you can't effectively “fry” something with a few tablespoons of oil and hot circulating air. Some say yeah, it works but it takes up too much countertop space for what it's worth.
What are Disadvantages of Using an Air Fryer? Air fryers vary in the amount of foods they can hold, but usually do not have a large capacity. Air fryers may not be convenient when cooking for large groups. Foods that are air fried have different sensory characteristics than foods that are deep fried.
It's great at heating frozen foods, but it's also fantastic for from-scratch foods, like chicken wings, potato chips, donuts, and extra-crisp cookies. Here, we've rounded up 81 air fryer recipes to show just how versatile the appliance can be.
As with all dry-heat cooker methods (grilling, broiling, pan frying and oven roasting), tender beef cuts perform best in the air fryer. Those cuts include Top Sirloin, KC Strip, Ribeye, Tenderloin and Tri Tip. Ground beef also can be easily prepared in an air fryer.
Yes, you put raw frozen chicken in the air fryer! You won't be able to brine it first or pound it to an even thickness (so the results are not *as* juicy) but if you forget to thaw your chicken, it's a great option to have on hand.
Cook at 360° for 9 minutes. Then flip the chicken breast over and cook for another 9 minutes. Larger chicken breasts need more cook time, and smaller ones need less time. Open the air fryer immediately so it doesn't continue cooking in the heat.
Place chicken in the air fryer basket, presentation side down, and cook for 8 minutes at 375°F. Flip the chicken over and continue cooking until the thickest part registers 155°F on an instant-read thermometer, typically about 6 to 8 minutes longer.
Some manufacturers recommend running the air fryer empty for 10 minutes before you actually cook with it, to let it off-gas. There might be a slightly chemical smell (one manual referred to it as a “new appliance smell”), so have the vents on or windows open.
While your Philips Airfryer does not require oil to cook and fry the food, adding oil directly to fresh ingredients when preparing them, such as freshly peeled potatoes or chicken, can create a crispy layer and improve the overall taste of your dish. Note: never pour oil into the pan of the airfryer.
